It is crucial for team success that we train during the summer. The Cross Country season is only 11 weeks long. That isn't nearly enough time to build the fitness necessary for a successful season.
XC athletes are encouraged to sign up for the late (10-12) session of Summer Conditioning--that way guys can show up early (9ish) to get a run in before the session. We will also meet every Friday evening at 5:30 at the MHS tennis courts for a team run. Check the calendar for running opportunities.
Summer running doesn't need to be extensive--just 30-40 minutes, 4-5 times/week. At least two of these runs should include a bit of high intensity (fast paced) running in there.
Above all else, the best kind of summer conditioning is that done with other guys--train as a group. We race as a team, we need to train as a team!
